Camarasaurus lewisi
(http://www.learningthings.us/)
I understand from reading recently that this was a mistake. The experts including his great friend John McIntosh, Yale, are thinking that what he found wasn’t really a new genus, rather an abnormally large specimen of brachiosaurus I think they are saying. It isn’t surprising that he made mistakes. He didn’t finish highschool. I admire his courage to take on the “educated” ones and do what he thought was correct. Plus I suspect that he wanted to ‘reward’ people for things they did for him and naming a new dinosaur was such a reward. Perhaps not, I don’t know. But Arnie Lewis for whom this one was named, was dad’s best friend in the paleontology world.
