Photo must have been taken before they (1) understood of (2) encountered the parietal crest which was buried down inside of the skull, only to be discovered when drillling into the skull to accomodate these steel structures which would be welded to the wall to support it.  They really did refer to it as a stove top. Dr. White who did the restoration back in the 30's or 40's did a no-no and would have gotten away with it except that dad needed to get into the center of the skull with this steel.
